The industry network for built environment journalism and communications has announced the winners of its annual awards.
The very best in built environment journalism and podcasting was highlighted at the IBP Awards 2025 held at the Building Centre in London on 27 November 2025. The event brought the IBP community together to recognise the notable work of this year’s award winners and finalists.
The International Building Press (IBP), which champions the very best in built environment journalism and communications, was celebrating its awards’ 52nd year and as ever, they acted as a benchmark for excellence and highlight the skilled reporting of journalists on key issues across the construction, property and infrastructure sector.
This year’s awards featured ten categories and included prizes for journalists, media brands and podcasts.
Melissa York, assistant property editor at The Times and The Sunday Times, claimed the title of IBP Journalist of the Year, with judges praising her ability to combine depth of investigation with clarity, narrative flair and impact.
A further standout recognition went to Samantha McClary, CEO of the British Council for Offices (BCO), who was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the industry in campaigning for diversity in the real estate sector, defining journalistic principles and bringing new energy to her role at the BCO.
Inside Housing was recognised for Media Brand of the Year, standing out in a highly competitive category for its relentless focus on the needs of its readers, including the launch of a new sister site. The title also took home the inaugural Podcast of the Year award with their Inside Housing Management Podcast, hosted by Anna Highfield and Katharine Swindells.
